TIES 2016 Scholars

Benjamin Barger

EE – Scholar since 2016

My name is Benjamin. I am 26 years old, and have been an electronics hobbyist since I was 14.  At a young age, I was fascinated with all things electronic, and was often given broken gadgets by my parents to conduct autopsies on. As I got older, the autopsies shifted towards more careful surgeries and eventually lead to creating new life. I came to Georgia Tech to refine my skills and understandings of what makes things tick, and I hope to use my gained knowledge of Electrical Engineering in the field of assistive technologies to help those with disabilities live more comfortable lives.

Shawn Hobbs

ECE – Scholar since 2016

I am a transfer student with an Associate’s degree in Integrative Studies from Clayton State University. My main motivation in transferring to Georgia Tech was to gain exposure to the skills and opportunities afforded to thrive in the diverse field of electrical engineering. I have a huge passion for electronics, music, and technology. My aim is to apply my knowledge as an electrical engineer within the context of electronic design and applications, creating or designing new or existing technologies for anybody to enjoy. While not in class, I’m either working, recording music, relaxing, or hanging out with friends.

Geon Kang

ECE – Scholar since 2016

Austin Little

ECE – Scholar since 2016

Brian Mull

ECE – Scholar since 2016

I am from North Carolina originally, but my wife and I moved to Atlanta in January of 2014. I started going to Georgia Perimeter College later in that same year and joined the Regents Engineering Transfer Program. I then transferred to Georgia Tech in August of 2016 to seek my Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. I am particularly interested in using embedded systems and signal processing to solve problems. After I finish my degree, I intend to go into industry to use my skills to solve client problems.

Ryan Odari

EE – Scholar since 2016

I was born in Bhutan, grew up as a child in the refugee camp in Nepal and resettled in the United States seeking for better opportunities in life. I got my Associate of Science in Pre-Engineering from Georgia Perimeter College and transferred to Georgia Institute of Technology in the spring of 2016. I am currently a second year transferred student at Tech, working to achieve my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. I am concerned to find out an efficient way of generating, transmitting and distributing electric power. I am interested in the standard for large-scale power transmission, such as a three-phase power system and want to specialize in Power electronics as I advance further in my career.

Moradeke Olumogba

EE – Scholar since 2016

My name is Moradeke Olumogba, but you can call me Rade or Rady – whichever one is easier for you to pronounce! I’m the upper middle child out of four and an Electrical Engineering major that is thoroughly enjoying the learning! What excites me most about it is seeing how logic and set theory is fundamental to digital design, whether it be hardware or software. It is amazing how we have brought together the study of language and mathematics culminating in Boolean Algebra.  It enables a computer interact with the human being! It is this interdisciplinary creativity that compelled me towards engineering, and seeing there is more abstract theory in to be realized, I’d like to encourage you to consider ECE!

Olatide Omojaro

CmpE – Scholar since 2016

I am a Nigerian born second year transfer student, from Georgia Perimeter College, studying Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am very interested in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence and intend to pursue a doctoral degree in these areas. I have participated in several research experiences for undergraduates at various institutions researching robotics and artificial intelligence. This research has led to three publications in robotics and artificial intelligence. In my spare time, I enjoy promoting STEM education within under-represented communities and was recently recognized by President Obama for my volunteering service to promote Education. When I am not out bettering the community, I can be found participating in several start-up initiatives, playing and watching soccer, or video gaming.

Bhumi Patel

ECE – Scholar since 2016

Quentin Samuels

EE – Scholar since 2016

I am a fifth-year transfer student from Savannah State University. A goal of mine has always been to launch a startup company. I am actively learning about different research areas in the school of ECE to help narrow down my interest. I desire for my research to focus on developing a new technology or device that I can incorporate into a business.

Brandon Redder

EE – Scholar since 2016

I am a second semester transfer student from Georgia State University Perimeter College with Associate’s Degrees in Physics and Engineering. My main area of interest within Electrical Engineering is Industrial Automation and Control Systems, in which I’ve also accepted a Co-op position for this summer. Outside of school, I spend most of my time working with youth through the YMCA of Metro Atlanta and the Boy Scouts and volunteering with the Georgia Tech Invention Studio.

Zachary Russell

CmpE – Scholar since 2016

I am a third year transfer student from Armstrong State University studying Computer Engineering. I chose to transfer to Georgia Tech because of the multitude of resources and experiences Tech has to offer. My technical interests include computer architecture and organization, and I am eager to apply the skillset I have obtained at Georgia Tech in industry. In my free time, I love to go cycling and read historical non-fiction.
